WMVY Radio Reaches $600,000 Fundraising Goal
WMVY Radio has reached its fundraising goal of $600,000.
WMVY Radio announced Friday on its website that it has achieved its fundraising goal of $600,000 in pledges.
In November, WBUR, a Boston NPR station, purchased WMVY's signal, 92.7 FM.
At that time, WMVY embarked on a fundraising drive to save the 30-year-old independent radio's programming and staff and to stream WMVY's programming over the internet.
The funds raised should sustain the WMVY through 2013.

This is good news for our community and for WMVY's huge off-island audience. I especially enjoy Laurel Redington Whitaker's morning program where she often reads profound poems by island poets.
