What's Open Today on the Vineyard?
Today is Memorial Day, a nationally observed holiday. Many Martha's Vineyard shops and restaurants are open for business and the buses are running a regular schedule, but government offices are closed.
Memorial Day is a busy one on Martha's Vineyard, with most restaurants and retailers opening their doors wide in welcome on the first big weekend of the season. Click here to find events taking place around the Island today.
But even here, some workers get a holiday:
All municipal, state and federal offices and facilities will be closed. This includes schools and post offices.
Liquor stores: Open at the owner's discretion.
Retail and convenience stores: Open at the owner's discretion: Use the Patch directory to find contact information, and check your favorite spots on Facebook, where Shiretown Meats in Edgartown and Chicken Alley Thrift Shop in Vineyard Haven have both posted that they will be closed today.
Restaurants and bars: Most will be open, but call ahead. It's up to the owner.
VTA buses are running on the regular schedule.
