Obama Hits the Beach, Dines with Governor

The President and First Lady stepped out to State Road Thursday night with Deval Patrick and Vernon Jordan.

With , President Barack Obama and his family took advantage of what may prove to be the last good beach day before their Martha’s Vineyard vacation comes to an end on Saturday.

Obama, his wife, Michelle, and daughters Malia and Sasha departed Blue Heron Farm in Chilmark just before 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, en route to a private stretch of beach in Edgartown. It was the First Family’s third trip to the private beach near Edgartown Great Pond.

The Obamas stayed at the beach for nearly five hours, despite darkening skies that moved in by mid-afternoon.

Later Thursday evening, the President and First Lady traveled to in West Tisbury, where they enjoyed a three-hour dinner with a bevy of power brokers. Their dinner companions included Mass. Gov. Deval Patrick and his wife, Diane; senior advisor and friend Valerie Jarrett and her daughter Laura; and long-time Clinton friends Vernon and Ann Jordan.

The Obamas dined at the up-Island restaurant last year, as well.
