Local School Kitchen Makes National News
Around the world, folks are reading about the West Tisbury School kitchen renovations on the Huffington Post
In December, Noli Taylor, Program Coordinator of Island Grown Schools ,wrote an Op-Ed on MVPatch explaining why she, and Island Grown Schools, thought it so important to renovate the kitchen at the West Tisbury School. Once renovated, Taylor explained, the kitchen would be able to prepare and serve lunches to both the Chilmark and West Tisbury Schools, where children currently eat lunches prepared by off-Island food service provider Chartwells.
Since that Op-Ed, the Up-Island Regional School District committee passed a motion to renovate the West Tisbury School kitchen and to take over the lunch program from Chartwells effective next year.
Today, a blog written by Taylor titled: Invest in Food, Invest in Kids, was published on the Huffington Post.
