Five Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day
Everything's coming up corned-beefy.
Erin go bragh! (That means “Ireland forever,” for those not in the know). And Happy St. Patty’s Day? Nope, it’s actually Paddy’s day.
But really, does it even matter? On this day, Gaelic language skills or not, everyone’s a bit Irish, and almost everyone is out looking for a bit of fun.
So put on your best green duds and head for the door, because we’ve got five great ways to spend your evening toasting to your maybe-not-so-Irish ancestors.
1. Offshore Ale is serving up Irish fare—think corned beef and cabbage and shephard’s pie—all day long. Live Irish music with Gregg Harcourt and Mary Wolverton begins at 4 p.m.
2. Sharky’s Cantina is getting in on the action with an Irish quesadilla smorgasbord: Corned beef & Swiss cheese, Dos Equis–braised cabbage and a Thousand Island horseradish dipping sauce.
3. The Newes has some more traditional Irish entrees on the menu and Mike Benjamin on the stage at 7 p.m.
4. The staff at the Wharf just returned from a month-long vacation. They’ve been prepping corned beef and cabbage all day and are now looking to party. Green beer, anyone?
5. Rather stay in than brave the crowds? Both Stop & Shop and Cronig's have bulked up their corned beef and Irish soda bread selection. Better get cooking right away: the meal can take hours to prepare!
Of note: a St. Patrick’s Day party originally scheduled to take place at the Oyster Bar this evening has been canceled.
