Five Things You Need to Know Today: November 19

Today is hazardous household waste collection day and book sale Saturday

  1. Today is the last harmful household materials collection of 2011. Hazardous waste includes: pesticides, paints, solvents, aerosols, batteries, and used oil. Such items can be brought to the Harmful Household Materials Collection Station at the Refuse District, 750 West Tisbury Rd. Edgartown between 9 am -12 pm. Call the District at 508-627-4501 for more information.
  2. First there was Black Friday, then Cyber Monday and next Saturday, Nov. 26 is Small Business Saturday.   offering 20% off any one regularly priced item today, getting a jump on SBS. 
  3. Today is the last of the monthly book sale Saturdays of 2011 at the . 1pm - 3pm
  4. All day today at , there will be a bake sale to benefit Cookies for Kids' Cancer. All of the money raised will be matched dollar for dollar by OXO, the Good Grip brand of kitchen tools. For more information, call 508-693-0030.
  5. The at will be spending time around camp and in the surrounding woods today, building shelters with all of the leaves that have finally come down. They will also be working on their fire skills. Saturday Squirrels meets every Saturday from 10 am - 4 pm and is for boys and girls ages 6 to 13. Cost is $900 for the entire school year (30 Saturdays), $325 for 10 sessions or $50 per day.
