Authors and informational talks top today's list.

1. Liz Murray, author of the New York Times bestseller “Breaking Night” and the subject of the Lifetime movie “Homeless to Harvard” will pay a visit to the Old Whaling Church for an . The event is sponsored by the Martha’s Vineyard Women’s Network and the Bunch of Grapes. Tickets are $20, $15 for MVWN members and $5 for students.

2. The Edgartown Library concludes its tonight with a screening of Claude Miller’s “Un Secret” at 7 p.m. Free desserts will be provided.

3. Martha B. Straus. Ph.D. will present a free talk, , about the challenges of monitoring and supporting their high school students. The event is sponsored by the Martha’s Vineyard Youth Task Force, and will take place in the Culinary Arts dining room of Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School at 7 p.m.

4. Aquinnah town administrator Adam Wilson will lead an author’s talk about his new novel, “The Road to Sagarmatha: A Himalayan Adventure.” The free talk begins at 5 p.m. at the Old Aquinnah Town Hall. Refreshments will be served.

5. The Vineyard Haven Library is hosting Rick Karney of the MV Shellfish Group as he delivers a presentation on the Importance of shellfish at 7 p.m.
