Chicken Alley Art Show Raises $30K

The annual Art Show and Collectable sale benefits Martha's Vineyard Community Services

The raised $30,000 at its opening on Sunday, August 19th.

Over ten years ago, art lover Olga Hirshhorn pitched the idea of spoofing an art gallery opening to manager Sandy Pratt. It quickly formulated into the Chicken Alley Art Show and Collectible Sale, and with the help of others become an Island staple known for its unique items that attracts around 1,000 people each year.

This year there were a few big-ticket items, like a Rolex that sold for $1500, but most items carried $10-$50 price tags.

The Vineyard Haven thrift shop spends all year saving high-end donated objects and storing them in back, anticipating their unveiling each summer. Any items that didn’t sell yesterday stay out and after a week are marked down 50%. Proceeds benefit Martha’s Vineyard Community Services.
