I saw some buttercups yesterday and I was thinking about how when we were kids we put the flower under our friends chin and said " yes, you like butter!" when it reflected yellow. WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?

I have no idea, I'm going to have to do a little background research now. It is one of those things that goes from one generation to the next to the next. And who doesn't love butter?!

Okay Janet, all I could find was that no one knows exactly when the whole thing started. There were records of it going back to at least the early 1900s. I did find this interesting article on why you see yellow under your chin (other than liking butter of course!) http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2011/12/14/buttercup-glow-revealed-s_n_1147831.html
